• So an important part of reputation management is knowing how people can destroy your reputation?

Well here’s a list of 5 ways people might do this:

    1. Purchase a Domain - www.Ihatethiscompany.com - Simply but often effective - if someone is on a mission to harm you then they may even look if you own all your .TLD as it can be a bit embarrassing if your a .co.uk and suddenly the .com springs up slandering your website.
    2. Blagger.com - All it takes is someone to start adding a post on blagger.com and then it can start appearing.
    3. Review Centre - Again a few reviews on Review centre and suddenly you prospective clients see a big thumbs down.
    4. Forums - Someone starts to write a forum thread, if other unhappy clients get on to it, then it can spread like wild fire.
    5. Blogs - Personal blogs are always a big one for someone to rant and rave about.

So if someone is intent there are number of outlets for them to harm your online reputation, you need to get some SEO, someone to help with typing services and look at creating your own versions of the above.

We’ll keep you posted on other methods and of course ways to get round them.

  • Companies often don’t think about their online reputation and so can often lose business before they have had chance to even pitch for it:

So what basically is Online Reputation Management?

It comes down to a strategic approach to controlling the message your business portrays and that means neutralising bad comments and press and on the web this can be difficult from an obvious point of view if you know nothing about SEO or Search engine optimisation then how can you change the listing which appear in Google?

So what many companies don’t realise is that you can control your reputation especially around your brand if you can control the first pages of Google.

Obviously this can become expensive so what question you should ask yourself is how much is your reputation worth and how much business could you loose if you don’t have your reputation managed?
